About the project
Stratené Dedičstvo
An original art project by Iveta Polák Čuchtová using 22 drawings of well-known and lesser-known Slavic deities to explore mythology, culture and ancestral ideas about the world.
Original series
Twenty-two drawings. Twenty-two entry points into mythology.
The University of Prešov describes Stratené Dedičstvo as an interactive exhibition of 22 drawings depicting well-known and lesser-known Slavic deities. The project introduces Slavic culture, ideas about the world and ways of life.
Interactive layer
Sight · sound · scent · touch
At the University Library exhibition, each drawing was accompanied by spoken word accessed through a QR code and a specific scent for each deity. The purpose was not only to transmit information, but to activate the visitor’s imagination and allow individual interpretations to meet the artist’s own.
Prebudenie · 2025
When the drawing begins to move.
At Caraffka City Gallery the project expanded into Stratené dedičstvo: Prebudenie. The City of Prešov presented it as a combination of visual art, digital animation, sound and mythological storytelling.
Across 22 interactive works, QR codes revealed voice, sound and story. Seven works were digitally “awakened” through animation and spatial sound.
Exhibition journey
The project continues
From exhibition to wearable work.
The shop is another layer of the same original project: selected drawings are transferred onto textiles while the original motif stays at the centre.
